Coos Bay Oregon
"The communities of Coos Bay Oregon, North Bend and Charleston are
tied together by a common bond of commercial and recreational activity
centered around the bay that links our busy port community with other
ports, cultures and businesses throughout the world. Coos Bay, Oregon
one of the world's major log and wood product seaports, the Pacific
Ocean, and a multitude of streams, sloughs and lakes bring commerce and
fun to residents and visitors. The Bay area is home to industry,
serenity, rugged beauty, recreation, culture and people who have grown
to love this richness and diversity. Bay

Attractions
Charleston Harbor / Seven Devils Loop
This four mile loop tour can take you about three hours, or as
long as you like. Begin at either the North Bend Information
Center/Coos County Historical Museum or the Coos Bay
Information Center/Oregon International Port of Coos Bay. Work
your way along the route to the quaint fishing village of
Charleston at the mouth of the Bay. You will be able to fish
from a dock, engage in clamming or crabbing or take a charter
boat. A short sidetrip west from Charleston will take you to
Bastendorff Beach and Sunset Bay Parks where you can beachcomb,
explore tide pools and view spectacular sunsets. This trip
also takes you to historic Shore Acres Gardens. Enjoy
panoramic views of Cape Arago Lighthouse. Then after this side
trip, proceed south to Bandon, stopping at the South Slough
Estuarine Sanctuary Interpretive Center along the way.
Estimated travel time: 3 hours.
Coos
County Historical Society Museum
Semi-permanent and changing exhibits explore
the area's cultural heritage. They include Native American, a
formal ca.1900 parlor, pioneer kitchen, agriculture, and
industry such as logging, shipping and mining.
Golden
and Silver Falls State Natural Area
A hidden gem in the dense coastal
forests of southwest Oregon, Golden and Silver Falls State
Natural Area may be hard to find, but it's well worth the
24-mile drive from Highway 101. The small parking and picnic
area are located along the banks of Glenn and Silver Creeks
and is shaded by large maple, alder, and Oregon myrtle trees.
Hiking trails wind through scenic canyons to each of the
waterfalls -- they plunge over sheer rock cliffs to moss
covered boulders 100 feet below.
