Brody
Theatre

The Brody's double focus--on
entertainment and experiment--marks it as a showcase for both
audience-pleasing performances and cutting edge theatrical
presentation. The Brody school, both a training ground for
its own improvisers and a workshop for actors wishing to
broaden their skills, creates at the theater a vital and
vibrant exchange; Saturday night's spontaneous stage discovery
becomes Monday's workshop focus, and vice-versa. This
chemistry is one reason the Brody school counts among its
students many members of other area performance troupes.

Forget the elaborate sets. Forget the expensive costumes, the
opening night galas, the plush seats. Sometimes the most
exciting theater is the most stripped-down and elemental: a
bare stage and the thrill of a good actor grappling with rich
material." --Bob Hicks of The Oregonian, writing

Imago Theatre
17 SE 8th Ave, Portland, OR 97214-1239, phone: (503) 231-9581
Carol Triffle and Jerry Mouawad, the creators of Imago, have
been called alchemists, magicians, theatrical animators, and
physical comedians. Defying classification, they have
populated the stage with characters and beings such as comedic
amphibians, acrobatic larvae, circus boulders, and
metamorphosing humans in works which tantalize the senses, the
intellect, and the passions. From adaptations of classics to
excursions into vaudevillian existentialism, Imago's
repertoire is as vast as the forms they shape. With
commissions for stage, film, and television, Imago blurs the
lines of the expected to break new ground, exploding
performance boundaries yet maintaining humor and humanity.

founded Stark Raving Theatre to provide an adventurous union
