All-Oregon
Newsletter March 2006
I hope all of you who live here in Oregon made
it through our floods and then our cold spell without any
problems. Those of you who don't live here might have been
surprised at the weather we have been having. This winter has
reminded me of the ones I had growing up. The only thing
missing has been snow here in the Willamette Valley. But, it
still isn't too late to see some of that!!
Spring is just around the corner and the festivals, fairs,
rodeos and outdoor recreation are beginning. People will be
bringing out their cars for cruise-ins and flea markets are
starting up. The whale watching season is starting on the
coast.
This month:
Featured events - Wine, music and food events abound
Featured book - 100 Classic Hikes in Oregon: Oregon Coast, Columbia Gorge,
Cascades, Eastern Oregon, Wallowas

Featured Book:
100 Classic Hikes in Oregon: Oregon Coast, Columbia Gorge,
Cascades, Eastern Oregon, Wallowas
Author: Douglas Lorain; Buy New: $13.57
Written by the Oregon hiking legend, this is the only
full-color guide to the best hikes throughout the state.
*Full-color photos, contour maps, and elevation profiles for
each hike *One third of the hikes have never before appeared
in a guidebook *Many of the routes described are loop
hikes--no going back the way you came. What makes a trail a
classic hike? Outstanding scenery, says Doug Lorain,
especially good views. Add in mountain lakes and waterfalls.
Sprinkle with wildflowers, old-growth forests, wildlife
sightings, and interesting geologic features. All of the hikes
Lorain has selected boast at least two of these attributes,
and often more. These are simply the best hikes the state of
Oregon has to offer. Lorain should know; he's logged more than
16,000 hiking miles in his boots. Lorain presents a mix of the
most popular trails and lesser-known gems throughout the
entire state. Trailheads are easily accessible; trails are
well established. They range from short, easy strolls suitable
for children and grandparents to longer backpacking trips for
experienced hikers. This is the deluxe guide with something
for everyone.

What's New at All-Oregon
I'm busy adding new pages all the time to All-Oregon. Also,
I'm still updating the events pages as new listings come in
from Oregon visitor's bureaus. If you have any topic you
think would be good to add to the site, email me and let me
know. Also, if you have an Oregon business or event, be sure
and let me know so I can get you listed.
Things are going well with the new companion Oregon-Classified
site at
www.oregon-classified.com. We actually have a few ads
placed now and I know when people realize they can post for
free, we will see even more (spread
the word).
That's it for this month.
